Ralf Hoelzer-Germann

Teacher and Teacher Trainer

Welcome to My Homepage!

Let me first briefly introduce myself...

My name is Ralf Hölzer-Germann and I am a teacher at the Werner-Heisenberg-Schule, a vocational school in Rüsselsheim /Germany, and teacher trainer at the Studienseminar für berufliche Schulen in Wiesbaden /Germany, which is a teacher training center for teacher trainees in the field of vocational education.

I studied the subjects History and English at the Justus-Liebig-Universtät in Gießen and at the History Department of Leicester University. After my graduation from university in 1993 I did my 2-years traineeship as a grammar school teacher at the Justus-Liebig-Schule in Darmstadt and finished it with a second state exam in 1996. Since 1998 I have been teaching at vocational schools in Hessen/ Germany and since 2002 I have been qualifying teacher trainees at the teacher training center mentioned above.

Why This Homepage?

The main purpose of my webpage is to share my teaching ideas, experiences, concepts and teaching / learning materials with everyone who is interested in effective teaching and learning at school. Over the last 25 years I have been developing so many teaching and learning materials  that I somehow feel the need to make them accessible to everybody who is searching for some particular stuff. My first homepage went online in 2013. This is my second one.

My webpage is especially  designed for my teacher trainees and students to provide them with lots of materials they probably  want to use and might need for their further qualification.
Here they have unlimited access to these materials whenever they want to.

Since I also want to make my materials accessible to people who I do not personally know and who do not necessarily speak German my homepage is partly in English (besides German, of course). I hope that visitors may find my materials helpful and as a good starting point for their own lesson planning or individual learning.

However, you will see that many materials in the German language that I uploaded here are especially for my German teacher trainees who I am teaching in General Pedagogy, my History classes at school or for German visitors. The materials for my English classes are, of course, in English and therefore perhaps interesting for non-German speakers, too.

One more thing to keep in mind: Please, click the appropriate button above to get to the section of my homepage that is especially relevant for you.

What Can I Offer here ?

What I can offer here is lots of teaching & learning-related materials that are  especially for my German teacher trainees, who I want to guide on their way through their trainee-ship, and vocational school students, who I would like to support while I am teaching them in class.

However, I also hope to succeed in reaching people I do not per-sonally know or teach, like, for example, uni-versity students, more experienced teachers, students at other schools and everybody who goes online to get some ideas, input or help while occupying themselves with issues related to teaching or learning at school.

My materials are not especially designed for vocational school students or teachers. As a grammar school teacher teaching at vocational schools for more than twenty years now I have never lost my focus on social sciences and my interest in the two subjects that I studied at university. That is why most materials here are related to the subjects English and History but they also cover General Pedagogy and the general question what makes learning and teaching more effective.

As I mentioned earlier many materials are in English (because they have to do with English teaching and learning or because they have to do with my various international projects with Estonia and Finland within the context of Erasmus Plus mobility projects).  If my English materials turned out to be also relevant for non-German visitors of my homepage I would be very glad. The German materials, however, are mostly for the teacher trainees that I am teaching in General Pedagogy or for my History classes.

So let's go...
